What Is NOMN?

austin-moviesAustin Film Lovers, We Love You Dearly

This site is a resource for Austin movie lovers and filmmakers to stay informed and communicate with one another.

Originally, the Nueva Onda Movie Nights (NOMN) was a fan- and mister-cooled monthly free movie series held rain-or-shine, 8 pm, on the covered patio at Nueva Onda Mexican restaurant. Our volunteers showed award-winning indie shorts, docs, and features from around the world… but of course we loved to host Austin filmmakers. Sadly, Nueva Onda is now closed.

Chris Walters championed our “Unrentable” movies – cult classics, rare gems, and foreign films that never made it to U.S. distribution. As the name implies, these were films that you won’t find at Blockbuster. We could show them legally because they can’t be bought in the U.S. Thanks to Chris’ collection – and his region-free DVD player – we could enjoy these little-known treasures together.

Are You an Email Nomad?

If you’re one of those people who changes email addresses like changing socks, you should probably friend up with Nueva Onda on Facebook.
